Melody Charlton, JD, CRCM, CERP serves as Executive Vice President, Chief Legal and Compliance Officer at F&M Bank. In this role, she leads the bank's Legal and Compliance functions, providing strategic oversight of regulatory compliance, enterprise legal matters, and risk management. Melody established F&M's in-house legal function, strengthening the bank's legal oversight, supporting strategic initiatives, and enhancing the organization's ability to navigate an increasingly complex regulatory environment.

Melody brings more than 40 years of experience in the financial services industry, including over 35 years in legal, compliance, and risk leadership. Throughout her career, she has served in executive leadership roles for financial institutions ranging in size from $2.8 billion to more than $100 billion in assets. Prior to joining F&M, she held compliance leadership positions with Prudential Financial, GE Capital, Bank of the Sierra, and Northrim Bank. Her career also includes experience as a licensed practicing attorney, a course facilitator for the American Bankers Association, and a bank examiner with the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland.

Her expertise spans commercial and consumer lending, mortgage lending, deposit products, insurance, trust services, enterprise compliance management, privacy regulations, and enterprise risk management. Melody has extensive experience developing and leading comprehensive compliance programs, interpreting complex regulatory requirements, and advising executive leadership and boards of directors on legal, regulatory, and risk matters.

Melody earned her Juris Doctor and is a licensed attorney in the State of Ohio. She also holds the Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) and Certified Enterprise Risk Professional (CERP) designations, reflecting her commitment to excellence in legal, compliance, and risk management.
